When someone goes into a shopping site such as Yahoo Shopping they will be looking for a particular item, let’s say for example a portable microwave, so what they will do is type that request in and all the different kinds of microwaves that are portable will appear in the search results along with the different companies that are selling this product. What you will find is that there are many sellers on the internet from companies that only have a website that is basic all the way up to major companies. What these comparison websites do is allow the consumer to compare all the different prices that are available on each and every one of the websites, the different deals that are possibly available and the different prices when it comes to shipping the item. Once the consumer has decided which site they will make their purchase from, they will click on the link and go through the buying process of the item.

Additional Fees Incurred

When it comes to the sites of the different retailers, a fee will be involved, this will also depend on the business model it uses as to whether they will have to pay a fee that is a flat rate for advertising their site or they may have to pay for their site through a system known as PPC or pay per click, how this is works is for every click that is made through the sellers website a fee amount will have to be paid. Since the introduction of the PPC many more comparison sites are using this service and charging retailers every time a consumer clicks on anyone of their products via the comparison website. Some of the comparison websites that are new are using a model that is commission based and an amount is charged per item sold, this way the site can only make money if the consumer decides to purchase a product.

Why is Comparison Shopping Marketing Beneficial?

It has been said that by next year the selling of products through the internet will increase to over $100 billion, so making sure that having a company that is part of this increasing marketplace is more important that it has ever been before, and also making plenty of sales too through the internet. We believe in a good SEO campaign for all online businesses but being part of the shopping comparison sites enables companies to have more listings and places within the market. Unlike many companies that are not part of the online shopping comparison sites, they will be losing out on lots of sales and so it is very important to make sure that your company is within these marketplaces and comparison sites so that they are always getting a large portion of sales.

Comparison Engines

There are many comparison engines on the internet today and these include NextTag, Yahoo Shopping, Google’s Product Search, BizRate and PriceGrabber, what these comparison engines do is allow all the different outlets list their products in an order that is specific. When it comes to specific categories, the products and their listings are kept in a segmented order and it is the main engine that does this. This makes sure that traffic that has qualified arrives at the right page. It has been found that consumers who use these comparison sites are much more likely to make a purchase from these sites as they have spent much more time looking for a product and this works out at around 25 percent more purchases per visit.
